Pabna Textile Engineering College is the best reputed engineering college located at Pabna, Bangladesh which is affiliated by the Bangladesh University of Textiles.
During the British colonial rule in 1915, a weaving school was established at Pabna to meet Textile technician education by offering artisan level course. It was named Pabna Govt. Weaving School. The Governor of Bengal of the then British Government visited this institution on 25 January 1926. It was upgraded to Pabna District Textile Institute in 1980 to offer two years certificate course in Textile Technology. In 1994 this institute was promoted to conduct three years Diploma course in Textile Engineering under Bangladesh Technical Education Board. The Prime Minister of Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh decided to upgrade this institution to B.Sc. in Textile Engineering College in 2006 to offer four Years Bachelor Degree in Textile Engineering by affiliation with the University of Rajshahi and renamed it as Pabna Textile Engineering College.At present Pabna Textile Engineering College under the "Jute and Textile ministry" affiliation with The "Bangladesh University of Textiles" .
To generate new knowledge by engaging in cutting-edge research and to promote academic growth by offering state of the art undergraduate program Textile Engineering. And also to identity, based on an informed perception of Bangladeshi, regional and global needs, areas of specialization upon which the college can concentrate.
To undertake collaborative projects which offer opportunities for long term interaction with academia and industry. And also to develop human potential to its fullest extent so that intellectually capable and imaginatively gifted leaders can emerge in a range of professions.
They also undertake project work, have an industrial attachment(internship) and must take a comprehensive viva.
Workshop and laboratories of the College of Textile Technology are equipped with latest machinery and equipments which is comparable to any international standard.
At present approximately 480 students are enrolled at the college. Of these, around 15% are female.
Admission procedure is controlled by Department of Textiles, Bangladesh. Students who have passed HSC or equivalent exam can apply for admission. Admission is run once a year, generally November to December.
Foreign students must apply well in advance through their respective embassies in Bangladesh to the Ministry of Education, enclosing evidence of examinations passed and a transcript of academic records.
Although this institute was upgraderd to Pabna Textile Engineering College in 2006, there was very less digital facilities. Government had enough budget and projects but nothing improved due to shortage of trained persons. Recently in 2010 Farhad in association with Iqbal and Asadullah students of Pabna Textile Engineering College worked hard to digitize this educational institute. Area of their works (not limited to) Official Website Design, Wi-Fi facilities, projector facilities, influencing other students to be digitalized.
